My husband keeps having a dream that he loses the baby. Not that I'm miscarrying but that he puts the baby down and do something, when he returns the baby is gone. This is so strange seeing as he is a very responsible person and in real life wouldn't do anything like this!

MARIJKE:

In June, I hope to interview a really interesting scientist who specializes in pregnancy dreams. There are some really fantastic findings that I think you'll want to know about. One amazing thing was that women who had the MOST DISTURBING DREAMS in their third trimester were LESS LIKELY to have postpartum depression later on. It seems that bad dreams can actually be helpful to our overall mental health, at least in this regard!

More soon!

I had the most violent dreams ever for all three of my pregnancies. It was so weird. never when I'm not pregnant did I have dreams like that.

LORIE D:
Erotic dreams are another frequent theme in pregnancy. Between the hormones and added blood flow...well, you get the idea.

And I LOVE the 'birds and the bees' theme. Too cool!

ATTITON:

I betcha you had a ton of dreams; actually we all dream, every single night. You'd literally go crazy if you didn't dream; people who are prevented from dreaming become temporarily psychotic. (Which sheds a little light on how we feel when we are sleep deprived, doesn't it?)

If you're interested, get in the habit of having a pen and paper by your bedside. Try to jot down ANY little hint of a dream, even if you're not sure what it was -- as soon as you awaken in the morning. Over time, you'll get used to it, and start remembering more and more. It's fascinating!

KATIE:

Well, it makes sense to me. When you figure out the dilemmas presented to you in your dreams, there's no longer any reason to have them. Great example!

I remember having a lot of weird dreams when I was pregnant, but I can't remember the details of a single one. I do remember a lot of them were errotic, but - alas, can't remember what!

I do remember a few months before I got pregnant, I was dreaming a lot about bees. In fact I woke my husband up one night when I dreamt I woke up and a bee flew out of the ceiling fan and went down my pajamas. I even made him get up and out of bed and make sure there wasnt a bee there.

Then the next week we were sitting in the living room and a wasp came out of nowhere and flew right down my shirt. Too weird!

Probably had nothing to do with pregnancy, but the whole "birds & bees" reference.

I can't remember dreaming a single dream while pregnant. I wonder if that's because of all the sleeplessness that has taken over my soul since Rabbit was born, or because they never happened.

Huh.

When I was pregnant I kept having dreams where the baby looked exactly like my baby sister and my parents followed me around all the time telling me how bad of a job I was doing. My husband was nowhere to be seen.

I knew exactly what it meant since I was pretty much my sisters second mom and since my parents were so wrapped up in their bad marriage (they are now divorced) I often felt like I was doing more parenting than they were. As I became a new parent, I definitely felt the presence of my parents and worried I would not be a good parent myself (even though I have a beautiful marriage and my husband is fabulous).

Funny thing is, once I realized all this and wrote a really long journal entry getting into why I kept having these dreams, the dreams stopped.
