JD:

A very common dilemma, one that we have shared (for several years now!) While new babies DO tend to wake up their siblings, eventually everyone gets used to the noise. I suggest keeping the baby in your room, or a neutral place (even the living room will do for at least several weeks) until your older son gets used to the new baby.

And YES, expect that you WILL end up with 2 babies crying at 2 am -- at least sometimes. But it will only be a temporary thing -- and worth it, in the end (my bias, since I have 4)! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

My son just turned one last week and started weaning him. While I prefer to wait until he's older before I have another baby, I'm 43 and realize I need to start now. We have a two bedroom house so if I'm fortunate enough to have another child, they would have to share rooms and I wonder if the second child would keep waking up the first child and vice versa so I'd have two kids crying at 2:00 am?
